St. Luke’s Mission
The
Mission of St. Luke’s Church is to worship and
serve Jesus Christ, and to proclaim His Good News by
Providing traditional Anglican
faith, doctrine and practice;
by nurturing the spiritual and emotional growth of the parish
family; and by enabling outreach in His Holy Name.

St.
Luke's Visioning Statement as prepared by the Visioning
Committee with the help of Dr. Carol Sheppard.
God is
calling St. Luke's to:
Be steward and leaders of traditional Anglican faith,
Biblical teaching and Spirit filled preaching
Support the baptismal and confirmation vows of each child and
adult through mentoring relationships and family programs
Reach out and connect to our parish family through fellowship,
education and prayer to meet our diverse needs
Be the love of God to the community through works of service
in lay ministry
Seek, welcome and nurture all to grow in their love of Christ
Welcome to St. Luke’s Church
New
to St. Luke’s ?
St. Luke’s Church
is a warm, friendly, and active parish in the Diocese of
Pennsylvania, in the Episcopal church in the United States.
·
Founded in 1766, a
Parish of the Church of England was established in Newtown. They
erected a brick building, but
that congregation disappeared- perhaps during the War of
Independence when feelings toward anything “English” ran
high... cont.
·
Providing
traditional Anglican values in both our view of ministry and in
our liturgical and pastoral style
·
Worshipping in the
Anglo-Catholic tradition, using The Anglican Service Book
and The Hymnal 1982
·
Affiliated with the Network
of Anglican Communion Dioceses and Parishes in the Episcopal
Church, a network to provide a way for orthodox
Episcopalians to stand together in a new unity to proclaim the
Gospel of Jesus Christ and to begin to build a new future for
Anglicanism in North America
·
Guided in all we do
by our parish mission statement:
To make Jesus Christ known in all that we do.
St. Luke’s
is a community that is committed to…..
the
Great Commission, to calling people into a relationship with
Jesus Christ, to teaching people how to live a Christ-like life,
and to serving others in need.
We
welcome all in the name of Christ.
We
offer a well-developed Christian Education Program because we
believe that it is spiritually essential for everyone to learn
not only what he or she believes, but why.
Our
musical traditions are outstanding in quality.
We
offer many opportunities to become involved in the life and work
of the church.
Give
us an opportunity to meet you and welcome you to St.
Luke's.
We warmly welcome all who come to worship our God!
Each
day we live is a priceless gift from God, loaded with
possibilities to learn something new, to gain fresh insights
into His great truths. May we be showered with those blessings
as we together profess His Name.
Whether
you are passing through, or looking
for a church home, we hope that you find our community welcoming
and that you will consider joining us as we encounter Jesus
through our use
of the Anglican Service
Book,
which is an edition of the Book of Common Prayer completely in
classical language.
If you have a church home and are simply visiting, we hope that
you enjoy your time with us, that you feel the power and
presence of the Holy Spirit, and that you join us again soon.
